Lifeskills Challenge: ASDAN's customisable bank of activities for personalised learning
Lifeskills Challenge is ASDAN’s popular online bank of practical activities designed to nurture self-awareness and introduce core skills for children and young people. These activity challenges are a flexible way to recognise and reward small steps of achievement, with a focus on person-centred learning and progression.
Lifeskills Challenge activities are aimed at learners working at the equivalent pre-Entry Level to Level 2, providing an inclusive foundation for learners to participate and thrive in a personalised education journey.
Write your own accredited activity
Lifeskills Challenge isn’t just an online bank of over 3,000 activities. Once ASDAN members have received training from our team of experts, they can contribute to the Lifeskills Challenge bank. Educators are encouraged to be creative and write and submit their own activities, ensuring a tailored and meaningful curriculum for their learners.
Each submitted activity is sent to ASDAN’s team of education experts who use their knowledge and experience to suggest any ideas and amendments they may have before it’s approved as an accredited activity. Users will be able to track the progress of their submission, reviewed on a regular basis.
By submitting a new activity to be published with ASDAN, educators across the world are helping to shape a rich and diverse education hub to empower future learners and teachers with choice and control over their learning journey.
Trending challenges to ensure relevant education
We spoke to ASDAN’s Senior Relationship Manager and Independent Living pathway lead, Melanie Baggaley, who outlined key changes to the online platform:
“Lifeskills Challenge is now fully integrated within the ASDAN website and can be accessed through the members’ area,” says Melanie.
“Our development team have created a ‘Trending challenges’ section, where we'll be able to give users the most popular activities being used, including activities relevant to certain awareness campaigns, such as Mental Health Awareness Week, Pancake Day or International Women’s Day. These will be at the forefront of the list to inspire educators with lesson ideas.”
Sophisticated search options to map activities to skills framework
“We will continue to work on this new platform and add features to enhance the user’s experience. As there’s such a huge bank of challenges to choose from, we aim to use tools to help serve up the most relevant challenges based on themes and associated ideas. Our aim is for educators to be recommended challenges based on ASDAN’s skills framework and the needs of their learners.” says Melanie.
“ASDAN’s design team have also revamped the style and navigation of the platform to make sure it’s accessible, intuitive and engaging,” says Melanie.
ASDAN meets learners where they are. Our renewed Lifeskills Challenge platform aims to better support learners' aspirations with tailored activities and user-friendly design. We’re excited to share it with you.
