The learner can:

  • Say small statements to the class or small group on at least one occasion about a visit in the community using speech, symbols, signing and/or AAC
  • Recall a key fact about a visit in the community on two occasions
  • Show they can listen to the person who is speaking by recalling something they have said on at least one occasion
  • Use speech, symbols, signing and/or AAC on one occasion to express a choice when out in the community
  • Develop a poster about an area visited in the community including pictures and at least two key words
  • Compose simple sentences with support about places to visit within the local area on at least three occasions
  • Use identified topic-related vocabulary in a permanent format (e.g. written sentences, colourful semantics)
