The learner can:
- Demonstrate knowledge of safety precautions when using a storm kettle, such as maintaining a clear, hazard-free workspace and keeping a fire extinguisher or water source nearby
- Safely light and operate the storm kettle according to instructions
- Extinguish the storm kettle properly and ensure it cools down completely after use
- Gather all the necessary materials, including the storm kettle, water, matches or a lighter, a mug, and the chosen hot drink
- Successfully light and operate the storm kettle to heat water, demonstrating patience while waiting for the water to boil
- Safely pour boiling water into the mug, avoiding spillage or burns
