  • Recognise who a trusted person is (e.g., family member, friend, carer) that the learner can contact for help
  • Identify a specific method of communication (e.g., call, text, video call) that they can use to reach out to the trusted person
  • Use a mobile phone or other devices to initiate contact with a trusted person when they need assistance
  • Clearly state or sign (if using BSL) the nature of the problem or situation where help is needed. If using text, write a clear and understandable message explaining the issue
