  • 1 .   Explain the reasons for having rules in a swimming pool and identify rules that apply to the pool they use.
  • 2 .   Describe how the lifeguard can help them.
  • 3 .   Be able to demonstrate a star float on their front and back.
  • 4 .   Be able to swim on their front for 5 metres.

The learner can:

  • Explain why there are rules to follow in a swimming pool
  • State two rules applicable to the pool they use
  • Explain how the lifeguard can help when you are in the swimming pool
  • Explain what the lifeguard does whilst on poolside
  • Perform a star float on their front with their face submerged
  • Perform a star float on their back with their head back and ears in the water
  • Lie on their front with their mouth in the water blowing bubbles
  • Kick their legs and move their arms in doggy paddle style for 5m with or without flotation aids
