    Be able to identify cells, their functions, and the role of the systems in the human body.

  • 2 .  

    Be able to identify ecosystems on planet Earth, the effect of humans on these ecosystems and how adaptations of living organisms are required for survival.

Assessment criteria

(What the learner need to demonstrate in order to meet the learning outcome)

The learner can:

  • Identify the structure of a plant and animal cell
  • Describe the functions of a least five different cells (Red Blood Cell, White Blood Cell, Sperm Cell, Egg Cell and Nerve Cell)
  • Write a definition of homeostasis and describe both the nervous system and endocrine system
  • Describe two contrasting ecosystems eg a desert ecosystem and the Artic ecosystem, include a labelled food web for each ecosystem
  • Identify the adaptions within each ecosystem that living organisms must make to survive
  • Describe the effect that humans have on each ecosystem eg how deforestation, desertification, global warming causes negative outcomes
