Assessment criteria

(What the learner need to demonstrate in order to meet the learning outcome)

The learner can:

  • Identify and sort images of 2D shapes in familiar situations eg honeycomb, traffic signs, sports equipment
  • Identify and label right angles in 2D shapes using a square
  • Sort 2D shapes using two criteria:
    • has right angles
    • does not have right angles
  • State and record the number of curved/straight sides/vertices of a range of common 2D shapes
  • Compare the properties of 2D shapes, responding to questioning eg which shape has more straight sides than a square?
  • Identify common 3D shapes from familiar objects eg sports equipment, food packaging
