Assessment criteria

(What the learner need to demonstrate in order to meet the learning outcome)

The learner can:

  • Demonstrate counting skills on two occasions when preparing for or during a bakery work experience (for example stock check ingredients; count out ingredients or cupcake holders specified in recipe; scaling up recipes; calculating cost of ingredients or baked goods up to £10)
  • Identify a situation where accurate counting is important and the impact of getting it wrong (for example miscounting stock and over or under ordering, incorrect scaling of ingredients so the recipe fails)
  • Demonstrate using a measuring tool or measuring equipment on two occasions during a bakery work experience (for example use a jug to measure liquids; use scales to measure dry ingredients; use cups or measuring spoons)
  • Identify a situation where accurate measuring is important and the impact of getting it wrong (for example adding the incorrect amount of liquid to make scones will result in not forming a dough; adding the incorrect amount of bicarbonate of soda will result in a crumbly texture cake)
