Assessment criteria
(What the learner need to demonstrate in order to meet the learning outcome)
The learner can:
- Look at pictures or short videos showing people around animals and say or point to which ones are safe and which are unsafe
- Identify at least two safe behaviours when near animals (e.g. moving slowly, using quiet voices)
- Identify at least one unsafe behaviour around animals (e.g. running, shouting, standing behind a horse)
- Identify PPE used when working with animals (e.g. boots, gloves, overalls)
- With support, put on and use PPE safely for an animal care activity
- Say or show why PPE is important
