The learner can:

  • Explain what could happen if a bike is not properly maintained
  • State how they would recognise a bike is unsafe
  • List the parts of a bike that need to be maintained
  • Identify at least three checks that should be carried out regularly to maintain a bike
  • State how often maintenance checks should be performed 
  • Show they can identity the different parts of the bike frame, seat, pedals, and handlebars eg forks, seat post, head tube, handle bar grips, crank arm
  • Show they can choose the correct tool for adjusting, replacing and repairing parts of a bike eg hex key, spanner
  • Demonstrate they can adjust, replace and repair the seat on a bike
  • Demonstrate they can adjust, replace and repair the pedals on a bike
  • Demonstrate they can adjust, replace and repair the handlebars on a bike
